The Carbuccia bridge
Here you’ll find the fish of biggest average in the Gravona.(from 35 to 40 cms)
This fishing section is not so long (500-700m) but it includes so many spots that it’s not necessary to walk up for kilometers. However you may go further upstream if you want to .
To reach the river, follow the N 193 from Ajaccio. After crossing “Peraccia”, a village on the road, you’ll find a junction with “Tavaco” on your left and “Carbuccia at right. Follow that second direction on 300m, cross the bridge and park your car on the left, just on the other bank. You’ll reach the river on the north bank just under the road sign.

This picture shows the lowest part of the section. You’ll start fly fishing downstream the bridge from the beach on this pool. |
| Here is the pool. Take care, for, really, trout are everywhere. Be very cautious while starting to fish this spot. on pain of making them flee away immediately. Note that at any passage of your fly under the branches you’ll catch a fish. On this section, trout are not so big as upstream | ![]() |

In a chronological order, we arrive on the very beach. Take care for body wading is not practicable here all the year long. |
We are now at the rocky headland, the river runs through a steep sided neck where all what the river flows down is concentrating. By the way fish also is concentrating here.

It occurred to me in the middle of June, during a fantastic evening hatch with more than ten fish feeding together, not to catch anyone. I was with my friend Sylvain 2A and, after deep thinking over the question, we admitted that we were using flies floating too low. The day after, I made a hit with 20 trout caught at this very spot with an ecdyo imitation made in a A4 pattern. |
| We are now under the bridge. Water is about 1.50meter deep. Just upstream the bridge is a pool very interesting for fly fishing. Rapids and boulders allow the trout to hide. And to feed, out of danger. A palmer should be used succesfully. | ![]() |

We are upstream of the bridge. The smooth spot that you can see as not to be forgotten. Try a fly floating up on the water or a cdc rather hairy made. Trout are not as shy as downstream. |
| This fish is rather on the average of this section. It is 28 cms long. | ![]() |

Let us see .from nearer the upper beach. Notice that the best places are on the rapids on the left. Don’t forget the end of the stream. Under the hanging rope, try a well sinkered nymph. An active trout is always there. |
| This fish has been caught with an hare’s ear with copper head. It was 32 cms long. |
