Véro, U Celavu
This section is the first that I tried when I arrived in Corsica. It is very easy to fish and trout are numerous . It distinguishing feature is a succession of not really deep pools . Trout average is lightly smaller than in the above section. It is about 20 to 25 cms..
To reach the river follow the same road from Ajaccio to Bastia.. After the Carbuccia junction and ,at the end of a bent ,after the camping, drive down the lane leading to a dog breeding field. Park your car next to the sports field, jump the fence.(Use the wood pallets to overcross the wire) and go down to the river through the brambles using holes made by the animals in the hedges to reach the river

. We are now down the “kennel pool”. It is 1 m deep. The river has a fine sandy bed downstream and a gravel made upstream.. Trout use tu feed in the main stream and to hide under the banks, which are hollowed. (Be carefull when entering the river) |
| Still on this « kennel pool ». Big fish are at the beginning of the stream. A cdc pattern with a hook nb 16 would be suitable. From the beginning of july, an imitation of “chironome” nb 18 would be succesfull too as well as a “micro fantasy” made with mole hair and cdc. |

took this picture on the upper pool. There, the Gravona flows down with its normal bed (upper stream, it is divided in several beds) Caution : before the pebble headland the river is too deep to be crossed with body waders until the end of June. |
| Here, you should practice fly fishing with nymphs at the beginning of the season and, later, with dry flies. Because of the streamy waters you ‘ll have to sinker heavily your nymphs to get some fish. |

Thid third picture shows the numerous spots to explore uppstream. Take care of streams and counter streams that will make your fly drift up and down continuously.. |
This part is the main bed of the Gravona where it is divided in several ones through the forest. It’s not really interesting for fly fishing. A lot of small fish (from 15 to 18 cms). The river gets too slopy so, on 300 m, only 2 or 3 spots are suitable. |

Here, we are 2 pools higher than on the previous picture.(about 300m) . This pool is rather deep and is really intersting when the season begins, for trout rise for feed as soon as fishing is allowed and even with high waters.

So, here I am, opening my season, with my daughter on my bach. As you can see, waters are not very high. |
| This spot is one of my favourite. Many trout, not easy to delude, but you can easily try nymph fishing from the middle of the bend, squated down on the sand. | ![]() |
